Introduction to a Future Business Management Graduate

Hey guys and girls, my name is Brady Roberts. I'm a junior here at OU, and plan on graduating from the Price College of business with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management, and hopefully a minor in healthcare management.
Over the past summer, I had the opportunity to Intern at Abbott Labs, one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world. I was interning with the contract operations department, which allowed me to see the inner workings of the industry and gain valuable exposure. Because of this experience, I recently became interested in pursuing the healthcare management career path to be better qualified for the industry.
With that boring stuff out of the way, I can tell you all some things about myself. At OU, I am a member of the fraternity Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji), and the opportunity has definitely enhanced my experience here. Through the fraternity, I've been able to meet lifelong friends while making valuable business connections with alumni. I've also been able to be part of many philanthropy programs like habitat for humanity and volunteer at the Norman Regional Food Bank.
But on a more personal level, I'm someone who has pretty varied hobbies. A lifelong love of mine has been hiking, mainly around Breckenridge and Summit County, Colorado.
Here is a picture (Link) that's a few years old, but it's of my little brother and mom and I on a hike. To date, I've hiked 11 of the Colorado "14ers", mountains that rise above 14,000 feet, and I hope to add more in the future.
In terms of family, I have a little brother, Luke, and a fraternal twin brother, Jackson. Although, most people won't know we are twins because we don't look much alike.
And that's a little about me. I look forward to reading through some other introductions and getting to know about others in this class.

  1. Wow, that is some serious hiking, Brady: how cool! Maybe you will want to learn about the mountains of India in this class... of course they attract climbers, and they are the subjects of legend, too. There's even a great legend that the mountains all used to have wings and would fly around in the sky (ha!), which made the sky-god Indra angry, so he cut off their wings, and so the mountains settled upon the earth. Only one of the mountains remained mobile: Mount Mainaka! That mountain even makes an appearance in the Ramayana. More here if you are curious: Mount Mainaka :-)

  2. Hi Brady! :D It's nice to meet other great people in Greek Life!
I also love hiking! I had the opportunity to go hiking with a group of OU students right before I started my freshman year. We went to the Pecos Wilderness! I highly recommend joining the Outdoor Adventure group on campus! They take a few hiking trips a year, if you haven't looked into them already.

  3. Hi Brady!

Are you originally from Colorado? I have been there a few times over the years, mostly around Ouray and Durango. I think it is a gorgeous state, and I really love the mountains over there, at least when not driving through them at night.

It is also cool that you have done volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity and the Norman Regional Food Bank! It is amazing how donating a bit of your time and labor can make a huge difference for those who need it.

  4. Hey Brady, We have a couple things in common as I am also a junior working towards a business management degree. I am sure we have had another class at some time and didn't even know it. I also know a few Fiji here at OU and would call them good friends of mine so I know you are in a good place there. I would of loved to rush but I am on the golf team so I couldn't. I have never been hiking but it sounds like you have a real love for it so that is really cool to see. I hope you do well and enjoy this class and maybe run across each other in the future.

  5. Hi Brady! That sounds like a cool internship. I'm not very business-y. I did have an English class in Price, if that counts. (I feel like it doesn't.) Your hiking adventures sound really fun! I'd love to do that, but I get atrocious altitude sickness. I'm sure the views and the nature are amazing though! I love the trees in Colorado, and it'd be fun to see what else grows way out there. I visited Colorado springs and loved the town, even though it is too high for me. I love little towns nestled among mountains. They're so lovely and quaint. They make me want mulled wine, tall knit socks, and a crackling fire. It sounds like you've got some great hobbies!

  6. Hi Brady
That's pretty impressive that you have hiked 11 14,000+ foot mountains. Hiking seems like it would be a very fun and interesting hobby to have. It was also cool to hear that you had a internship at a pharmaceutical company and determined that you wanted to pursue that further. I hope that you have a good year academically and best of luck in the future.

  7. Brady, it's exciting that you had the opportunity to intern with one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world, and that this experience helped shaped what you think you want to do in the future. Pursuing a minor is admirable as well! It's cool that you've been all over Colorado and that your family is super active. I went to Colorado for the first time in March. I skied and hiked up a mountain for the first time. It's a lot of hard work!

  8. YOOOOO Brady,
Sup Phi Gam? Great reading your introduction. That's a beast internship you had last summer, I didn't know about that. Hiking is pretty dope and that's even better you do it in Colorado. We should go up there sometime and 'Rado it up on those hikes. Can't wait to keep reading your posts throughout the semester. See ya later.

  9. Hi Brady! Congrats on being able to intern at such a renown company! Healthcare management is very important, so it's great that you're expanding your knowledge! I thought about mastering in that as well, but I'm not quite sure yet. I never understood much about the fraternity/sorority aspect of college, until my brother joined one and my Fiance explained to me about his fraternity as well. I think it's a great opportunity to branch out in society for sure.
I know quite a bit of people who love to hike and it's pretty amazing that you've hiked that much. I hope to start hiking when the time permits one day! Great meeting you and good luck this semester!

  10. Hey Brady! That's awesome that you got to intern at a company that involves both your major and minor. I've only been to Colorado a few times and it was to ski, which I am absolutely awful at. I would love to go hiking in the mountains but I'm from Dallas and there aren't any mountains there. Your picture makes me want to go visit really bad though. Nice to meet you!

  11. Hi, Brady!

Looks like you already have a clear plan about your future. That’s very exciting! It’s awesome that you interned at Abbott labs. I bet you gained a lot of valuable experiences and built on your network. I also volunteered at habitat for humanity and Regional Food Banks many times. I can tell how much you enjoy hiking by the impressive stats.

  12. Hey Brady!!

I think it's awesome that you got an internship in a company that was able to influence you to pursue healthcare management! I'm going into the health field so I know how valuable experience is when wanting to work in that department! You sound like you're really involved too, so that's always awesome! :) and wow, I am so jealous of your hiking trips! I unfortunately have never been to Colorado, or hiking at all :( but it looks like so much fun! Good luck with everything this semester!

  13. Hi, Brady!

Congrats on getting the internship that interested your studies the most! I bet it was exciting learning more about your major through work experience! I have never been to Colorado, but I wish to go there some day as it looks really cool, especially those mountains. I love hiking too, but I haven't yet been to a really exciting place to hike. I hope to do that when I go to Colorado sometime in future. Good luck with rest of this semester.

  14. Hey Brady!
that's really cool that you've hiked so much in Colorado. I am from Colorado originally so I have been all around the state, but my parents aren't really the outdoorsy type so I haven't done much hiking. I would really like to go back and do that one day though. It's really cool that you got such a nice internship, and I hope it helps you find jobs!

  15. Hi Brady, hope your semester is going well. I think its great that you're pursuing a a career in healthcare management. Especially with a business a degree, to have that minor is very interesting. And with all of the experience that you're accumulating, I am sure that you'll have no problem finding a job! Also, your hobbies a pretty cool. I spent spring break last year in Breckenridge. We took several hikes and skied obviously. I am not very good, but it was a good time.

  16. Hey Brady. You sound like a pretty interesting dude! My dad worked in the healthcare industry for many years when I was growing up and he seemed to really enjoy it. I though about doing that path myself but decided to pursue Finance and Entrepreneurship instead. I also love hiking, it is one of my favorite things in the world. Great exercise and i love being outside. Thats really impressive that you have hiked 11 14ers, I know those aren't easy.

Maybe I'll see you around the Phi Gam estate sometime.

    Later beast.

  17. Hello Brady!

Your internship this summer sounds incredible! It is so awesome to have opportunities that lead you closer to your career. I love that this internship made you want to add a minor. I think that is something you will definitely be able to achieve before graduating since you still have so much time! I'm graduating this December, so I am incredibly jealous of all the time you still have left here at OU!

  18. Hello Brady!

I am surprised to find that I almost passed up your page! I thought that I looked at everyones page but I didn't. Anyways, I think it is great that you decided to get a minor in health care management! College is all about taking the experiences that you gain and applying to what you want to do in life! The fact that your intern helped you decide your minor is great! Good Luck this semester!
